“This is a Floris van Bommel boot that will certainly be found on a Floris van Bommel foot this winter. It’s a fairly basic boot that has a nice “old school” look with its classically shaped last, the derby bow and the closely spaced eyelets. I will probably start wearing them in early winter and won’t take them off until the first baby birds leave their nests in June. The sole has a classic nub profile that we’ve used for several shoes in this collection. It is a decades-old classic sole type that can be used by any shoe manufacturer, for a boat shoe sole for instance. We didn’t want to change much about such a classic, buut…. We couldn’t resist changing it a little bit. The nubs and bow on the heel look very much like a face. That is the case for all of these classic soles, so it’s no invention of ours. But the eyes of our sole look cross-eyed... It’s just a minor change, but still. I don’t think anybody in the world has ever noticed it, but we definitely had 5 minutes of good fun with it ☺.”
